Postilion Basic Training focuses on the tasks that operators and administrators are required to carry out regularly. These include monitoring the system, performing queries, maintenance operations and first-level troubleshooting. Postilion Basic Training does not deal with how to perform installation or initial configuration, as these are tasks that are typically performed by ACI engineers.

Who Should Attend

The Postilion Basic Training is geared toward anyone who operates or administers an ACI payments system. The core modules are generic and apply to any EFT environment. The elective modules are tailored to specific environments, for example, retail POS in the case of the eSocket.POS module.

Module Objectives

Module 1: EFT Overview
Duration: 1/2 day (approximately 3 hours)
This module provides an introduction to basic EFT concepts including message exchange protocols and ISO 8583 messages. It also provides an overview of the ACI payments platform and familiarizes participants with ACI payments terminology.

Module 2: Postilion Realtime
Duration: 1 and 3/4 days (approximately 10.5 hours)
This module equips participants with the knowledge to operate Postilion Realtime effectively. It provides an understanding of Realtime’s functionality, focusing on tasks that operators and administrators are likely to perform regularly. These include monitoring Realtime, scheduling and running jobs and querying transactions. Limited configuration, such as adding new support team members and card acceptors, is also included.

Module 3: Postilion PostCard
Duration: 3/4 day (approximately 4.5 hours)
This module provides an overview of Postilion PostCard. It guides operators on how to access, monitor and troubleshoot the system. It also covers topics such as validation services, authorization services and frequent tasks like card or customer inquiries.

Module 4: Postilion Office
Duration: 3/4 day (approximately 4.5 hours)
This module shows participants how to use Postilion Office to query transactions processed by Postilion Realtime, extract transaction data, perform reconciliation with a transaction activity file provided by a third party and schedule and generate reports.

Module 5: ATM Driving
Duration: 1 day (approximately 6 hours)
This module is intended for participants who need to know how to use AtmApp to drive the deployment of ATMs. The bulk of this module details the steps required to take an ATM into service. This includes the necessary cryptographic key management. The module does not deal with complex topics such as downloads, FITs and states.
