ACI is planning to host its third Coding for Girls camp in Omaha on July 15th—a free day-long event to teach middle school girls about coding and programs like HTML, CSS and Java, hosted by the Peter Kiewit Institute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). As we gear up for our next camp, we sat down with Deepak Khazanchi, Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UNO College of Information Science & Technology (IS&T) along with Shelley Ahlers, ACI’s SVP of Software Engineering, to get a deeper picture around the challenges and opportunities for women and girls in Coding and STEM fields.

The Next Generation of Women in Tech

    Friday, April 28, 2017

ACI recently hosted its second Coding for Girls camp in Omaha, with 30 middle school girls taking part. A group of ACI volunteers and executives hosted the free event (complete with a pizza lunch) at the Peter Kiewit Institute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The camp gave the girls a hands-on introduction to HTML, CSS and Java, helping to spark interest in tech and coding at a young age. We sat down with Sampy Gajre, senior recruiter, ACI Worldwide, who leads the Coding for Girls program, to talk about the importance of learning about tech at a young age, ACI’s plans to expand the initiative to other cities—and how she is helping to recruit the next generation of female tech leaders.

This summer, ACI had the distinct pleasure of hosting a ‘Coding for Girls’ camp in Omaha, with plans now underway to host additional camps every quarter. It should come as no surprise that women are underrepresented in tech and view tech-related hobbies as a complex, male-driven endeavor. And as such, young women frequently avoid coding altogether, so our great team embarked on this program for girls--introducing them to coding in a fun and interactive way.

  • July: the hottest shopping time of the year for consumers, retailers—and fraudsters

    Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Summer is in full swing, and while many people equate this time of year with beach-hopping and BBQs, retailers—and those of us who keep them in business— are quickly making July one of the most exciting shopping months of the year. Irresistible online sales and promotions abound, and with that, so does the risk of fraud. In fact, eCommerce fraud attempt rates in July, 2016 (1.6%) are slightly higher than fraud rates in December, 2015 (1.2%), which is the busiest holiday shopping time of the year.
