Naples, FLA – October 24, 2017 – ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ: ACIW), a leading global provider of real-time electronic payment and banking solutions, today announced that Westpac New Zealand has upgraded core payment processing to UP BASE24-eps on Linux, delivered through ACI’s UP Retail Payments solution. In doing so, Westpac NZ leads the way globally in deploying payments applications on the operating system.

Westpac NZ chose ACI’s market-leading retail payments platform to overcome marketplace challenges and reduce internal technology costs associated with its legacy systems. With the platform, Westpac NZ is now able to make changes at speed, deliver quickly to customers, and rapidly scale up operations.

ACI’s UP Retail Payments solution acquires, authenticates, switches and authorizes financial transactions across multiple channels. Drawing on more than 40 years’ experience in payments software, the platform supports card, ATM and bank branch transactions through to mobile commerce and internet banking. It has been developed to address rapidly changing market needs, such as real-time payment schemes, by bridging current payment systems with ACI’s Universal Payments (UP) solutions.

“To stay competitive in the current marketplace, we had to reduce our total cost of ownership, and redeploy our most important asset – our people – onto projects that give us a competitive edge,” said Dawie Olivier, CIO, Westpac New Zealand. “By implementing the retail payments solution on Linux, we can fully benefit from our shift to DevOps methodology and practices, and have new products ready in days, rather than months. Additionally, moving our people to creating new, innovative solutions has boosted morale and enabled them to work in fast-moving, highly-collaborative teams.”

“ACI is thrilled to announce the go-live of Westpac New Zealand on UP BASE24-eps on Linux. This approach makes Westpac a leader not only in the region, but across the world,” said Phillip Finnegan, General Manager, Pacific, ACI Worldwide. “The close working relationship between Westpac’s and ACI’s engineering teams has resulted in an implementation that improves their business margins, enhances their technology operations, and, most importantly, improves the end user experience.”
