I used to wonder as I stood in the queue for an ATM or at the check-out of the supermarket how it all worked. How did this little plastic card allow me to get money out of my bank account and buy goods in a shop? How does this machine know how much money is in my account? Now that I work for ACI in the U.K., I know what goes on behind the scenes, and it’s fascinating. All the complex issues that surround electronic payments make it such an interesting and challenging area to work in. Changing my job to work for ACI was by far the best career move I have ever made.
